Lotteries, prizes & sweepstakes. Won The Publisher Clearing House Sweep Stakes
Got a call from 876-590-7134 looking for the owner of this phone. Said his name was David Williams from publishers clearing house. He had an old southern drawl and was creepy as can be.
I have received several calls from 867-591-0650 and related. Started when was told that I won 7.5 million and and a Mercedes car. Told caller I don't drive so he said he'd do a cash equivalent. What told that 99 percent of the taxes had been paid and that I had to pay the remaining 1 percent. The amount requested and the 1 percent do not match. This is not good especially when a person who was mislead into thinking it won could use the cash. Caller ID shows JM (Jamaica) so I have not answered since initial contact.
Got call stating that I won 2.8 million in a raffle. I also needed to send 1% for taxes. As a former federal government employee trained to look for scams such as this I waited till they gave their spiel and didn't give any information. Have had several calls since initial one. Knowing what I know I do not answer call(s).
Received a call from a burly man demanding to speak to my wife, he asked for her by her maiden name, as that is the name that our landline is in. The man said he was from Publisher Clearing and then got pissy with me. He swore at me and I swore back. He hung up and I called the number back and the man answered and was mad. I ended the call.
Took forever to answer and was very static sounding and hard to understand. Mentioned something about me winning/inherent 2.8 million??? Scam
