Live in Mississippi and got the same recording as above too saying do not disregard the message and to return the call. Personally not returning the call, I think it's a scam.
Was called from this number to call back immediately to avoid deportation or prison for tax evasion.
robotic male caller from 202-417-8865 states I was recently reported for IRS fraud & may be placed in deportment status or jailed. asked to return call to that number as soon as possible. this is the 4th call I have received over past 2 weeks from same number.
Stated I need to call immediately and not disregard the call. Very annoying to receive these calls.
Stated to call back and not disregard the message. Number originated out of D.C. supposedly, but it’s automated. There’s no way it’s real, that’s not how the IRS would handle a situation like that.

Received several calls stating that my social security number was used illegally and I no longer would be able to have access to it and it could be taken away from me because several businesses and property houses in several states were used with my social security number. Unless I pay a fine, the Sherriff department of Texas would be at my door in a matter of hours to pick me up. I was so afraid of that phone call and felt that the threats of my going to prison was so real until I gave up my social security number to them. I called my daughter to let her in on what just happened and she asked me why did I tell them my social security number and that it was a scam and to call the social security office to let them know about it. I then called and reported it and they told me to do some other things that I had no idea of how to do it, like call the different credit bureaus to report it . It was much easier to just give up my social security number to the caller on the other end. I've been told time and again to not give out my social security number, but how is that possible with every entity you deal with asks for it. How do you determine whose lagit and whose not.
