The man with the low voice (calling the first time from 860.815.5039) says he's calling from the National Police Support (or something-to-that-affect) and preys upon the fact that we all want to help out our local law enforcement, etc... Then he asks if you want to make a pledge/donation (but what was more odd) was he gives you an option of 3 amounts ($95, 75, or 55) and is somewhat "rude" because he WANTS you to commit to an amount. Before, during and after committing to one of the 3 amounts, he asks (in a bizarre way), "Are you sure you can 100% commit to this amount". (I don't know if he was trying to get me to say, "YES" (which I know not to do with random callers). When I asked him why he kept asking me the same question, he rudely told me to "Hold on" and that's when I hung up before he could come back.
Later the same day, on my other cellphone, I got the same call from the same man (which was from this reported number: 203.632.0383) - and I know he was the same person because he opened with the exact same opening line (and I mean EXACT) as to when he called earlier on my other cellphone which was, "you're the first person in 6 minutes (or hours) I've reached today" (or something to this effect.) It was then that I hung up and didn't even talk with him this time.
That's when I decided to go back to my other cellphone and re-dial the 860.815.5039 number. You know what I heard? The same guy (with the low voice, after picking up the phone, says) "Hello, Hello" (in the same tone). Then when I said nothing, (either he or a recording of him) talks about the number and the National Police Support number you've reached.
What's really sad these days is that if this was a legitimate donation for the police (which usually comes from a local police not a National Police group), with all these non-legit callers, no one in today's world knows if they're truly turning down a legit cause or if they're getting scammed. It's so sad. Either way, I hope this post helps those out there in case you get the same call.
