I received two texts from two different numbers with a 314 area code from someone who claims their name is "Scott". He thinks he is texting my dad (since he addresses him by name in the text) and says " This may sound crazy....and I may be open to buying your home on [provides street address]! Would you be open to that at all...? Do u want me to stop texting u?" The first text that was sent was from 314-820-2896 and "Scott" addresses my dad by name again (but is texting the wrong number) and says " ...You wouldn't think about letting of your place on [street address] for the right price would you?? Do u want to stop rcvng these msgs"?.
The fact that this person who claims their name is Scott is contacting my dad about selling his home through text as if he knows him already is really strange. He also provided my dad's actually street address which is also creepy and sketchy. When I contacted my dad he said he does not know anyone named Scott, he is not interested in selling his home, and he has never discussed the topic of selling him home with anyone. He is also not the owner of the home so he can not sell it.
It is also strange hat right after he asks my dad if he is interested in selling his home, he follows it up with " Do u want to stop rcvng these msgs" and " Do u want me to stop texting u"? It is like he is trying to solicit a specific response, in this case the word "yes" so he can get approval to do something which is probably sketchy.
My dad is a senior citizen and I do not want him or anyone else to be taken advantage of by these shady scammers.
