Scam Scam Scam
When you call the number , first the person waits a few minutes to call speak. Then he says prosecutors office. After explaining the reason for my call and stating my name, he then said let me place you on a brief hold while i speak to my supervisor. He gets back on the phone and then asks for your name again. Then he states that it is an attempt to collect a debt, that you may have to appear in court and then gives an amount that is owed. After trying to explain to him that the debt is incorrect and you have no knowledge of it, He then got extremely nasty and said why cant you afford to pay your bills, they are filing a criminal lawsuit against you and then proceeded to state that I couldn't afford a lawyer if I cant my bills. He also threw in there that it was the FDIC which threw me off. Then hung up the phone on me. What I also did not understand was how the number that initially called me was a (718) area code, but told me to call the (315) number. It is such a scam. As soon as you threaten to have your lawyer call. That's when they get upset because they know that they are unable to scam you out of money.
