This is a robo call from someone claiming to be a process server. When I tried to call the number back at 1:30 in the afternoon (it's a Los Angeles number), they said it was after business hours. In addition, they gave me another number to call. The last time this happened, it was for a debt that I paid off and four times after I paid it off, I got MORE calls again claiming that I still owed. I'm NOT going to call them back. Is is customary for someone to call you and let you know your're going to be served?
Received a call from a lady claiming to be with Merchant Services who she said is directly connected to Master Card and Visa asking for the owner of our company by name. The call showed on our caller ID as 323-329-5033 listed to Dwayne Johnson. The lady was offering to reduce our credit card processing rate to 0.0% for debit cards and 0.25% for credit cards (without knowing the rate we are currently being charged or the volume of business). I thanked her for the rate she was offering and told her whenever someone offers us a lower rate I tell the company we currently use and they usually match the rate. She said they could beat their rate because they are offering us a commercial rate instead of a retail rate like most banks do. She said their rep would be in our area tomorrow and could stop in for a few minutes to give us some additional information. Then she asked where we were located? I asked if she didn't know where we were located how would she know their rep would be in our area. She responded with our PO Box number and said she figured we were within the same city. When she asked for the location again I told her we were not in a commercial building but currently home based. I also told her what kind of business we are, which she sounded surprised, then she said she was going to have to ask her boss about it and she would call back in a few minutes. That was about an hour and a half ago. I decided to call the number back that was on our caller ID and I got a recording saying that the number does not accept incoming calls. Our phone is a business phone that is listed on the do not call list. Was it some kind of scam? You be the judge, but as far as I am concerned if the company name does not appear on the caller ID and incoming calls are blocked, I think I will stay with the company we have been using for the past 15 or more years.
Merchant services, but they called 2 minutes prior and pretended to be some old lady (terrible impression btw) They aren't legitimate do NOT give any info.
This number called us here in Fresno, CA. They claimed to be merchant services and needed to talk to the owner. I placed them on hold, then they hung up before I could pass along the message. Their caller ID says "Bruce 10" and when you attempt to call them back it doesn't go through. Beware.
Received calls on successive days trying to schedule a 'review' of our credit card processing. Told them we were not interested and hung up - they attempted to call back immediately. Extremely annoying.
