I suspect this was a scam. They called me claiming to be seeking donations for the fire department. When I realized the voice was computerized and I commented on that, they told me I was speaking to a live person using a computerized voice for "quality assurance". They would not accept donations via credit or debit, and said that they "do everything through the mail." I told them I wasn't comfortable giving out my address, and they wished me well and said maybe another time then.
