Called saying grandson was hurt, called back then said (caller was public defender) SCAM
Just got the identical call as comment above about a good friend in jail in Pittsburgh. The bail money this time was $9,000. Called my friend who happened to be at work. Same instructions with sending the money.
I was at work. My grand father and mother received a call from this number claiming I was in Pittsburg in jail with a DUI and needed money for bail. It was clearly not me lucky we do our research and didn't send the $6,500 for bail and they wanted my mother and grand father to send the money cash I might add in a white envelope to a new York address.
Caller stated he was from NYSEG and wanted to go over information on my bill because supposedly I need to lock in my rate. I said "no thanks" and hung up. He kept trying to call me back, but I ignored it.
