Said his name was Glen King and I could call him back at 650-526-5564 to get my computer fixed as it was accessed at 3:15 A.M. by an IP address in New Mexico.
Called said his name was Glen King and that my computer had been accessed at 3:15 A.M. and my firewall had been turned off. He wanted to access my computer to fix it.
Received call this a.m. asking to access computer because 2 red flags showed up for the e-mail address associated with the computer and they need to go in remotely to find the problem. The caller ID showed up as helpdesk. As soon as I asked them what the name of their business is as well as what company they are under contract to and their business license number/tax ID number they hung up.
Caller ID said "Help Desk"Wanted to access my IP address to correct a problem. Used the name of the man who used to own this property 20 years ago. I told him the guy was dead and he hung up.
Individual said he was calling from Microsoft to inform us that our computer had been compromised at about 0315 AM and our antivirus security software had been turned off. He could fix it if we would go to our computer now and give him access. We did not comply with his wishes and hung up.
Computer "service" claiming to be Microsoft representative. scammed $999.00.
Robocalls are easy to identify and very predictable. It's like a sales call who they can scam.
