Phone call from 440 449 6058 supposedly for me to call back to 719 445 1199. Had wasted 15 minutes of his time explaining that the computer was put away, then had to find charger & then waiting for updates to be installed. He had an accent inconsistent with his name " Ryan Finn". A middle eastern person with such a name? He will call back in 1/2 hr. I will be tying up his line further. THis will prevent him from scamming someone else in that time.
I had a similar experience only he said he was calling from my internet provider and for awhile I believed him. I became suspicious and shut down my computer. I should have been aware that it was a scam when the caller id didn't bring up the name of my internet provider. I checked the provider and they said that they don't make these types of calls.
Already has an 'in' on the computer and offers to fix it. Instead they plant a bug which then requires their fixing it- for a fee, at a later date. They also try to get you to buy the Microsoft Support Pkg. which supports Windows. They couldn't get in my computer today because I had it wiped clean and everything reinstalled. They wanted to inform me that something was wrong with my computer. What was wrong was that they couldn't get in! They also use a 910 area code.
One of many calls claiming to be from Windows Technical Support with a free service call to fix my windows system. I had some extra time to waste his, so I told him my PC was turned off, waited 4 minutes for it to get turned on, told him I had 87 windows updates, delayed 15 minutes for updates to complete, told his someone was at my front door, and he finally hung up on me after a few minutes.
This guy claims his name is Steven Williams but his accent is so thick that I could barely understand him. He called asking for my father who's been deceased for 5 years stating that my dad's computer is in danger of being hacked. My did never owned a computer.
The Indian on the line claims to be from Windows PC Care. When pressed, he gives a random address in Clinton, NC. Beware. He has a lot of information about your computer.
