Received a letter from my county (in West Virginia) claiming my property will be seized if I don't pay taxes. Looked quite official, I must say - perforated letter, form type in upper right, filing number, etc.. Letter was addressed to the previous owner (actually, to the one BEFORE that). Got a second letter at the same time addressed to the neighbor, but for my address. Called the county and reported the scam.
I keep receive receiving letters in the mail regarding a debt from the Department of Treasury. They ask the keep asking for my ss#, date of birth. I tried to make a payment plan and they say they will only take credit cards.
Received letter stating they will seize property and garnish bank account for Federal Tax Authority
Sends a letter from you county claiming your property will be seized. A complete fake and scam.
Our company received a call from this number. A lady says that this is on a recorded line and can be monitored at any time and ask to speak to someone regarding our taxes and she was calling in behalf of her company and would not give a name. I kept asking in behalf of who and started getting loud and rude. I put her on hold and realized this lady was not legit so I sent her off to our non working phone numbers and was done with that! I would not receive any calls coming from this number if you get a call from them 1-800-258-1498.
Received a call from a "Jennifer Hughes", saying she is with "Performant Recovery Inc." and asking for whoever deals with the Dept. of the Interior. Caller ID said "800 services." I offered to take a message. She wanted to know the name of the person she would be leaving a message for. I said I am not authorized to give out that person's name. She wanted to know MY name. I hung up on her. She called back right away, saying this was an attempt to collect an outstanding debt, and if we didn't pay it, we would be sent to the Dept. of Justice. I hung up on her again. No subsequent calls yet.
They called from number (210)100-1005 and I picked up. They pretended to be CapitalOne Credit Card Customer Services offering me to lower my interest rate and to increase credit line. I was asked to give my personal info. I hanged up!
