800-429-8018 is for a company called American Service. It is an automated voicemail with the options of reaching different extensions. Tom Wells is at extension 101. He purports that customers win a sweepstakes that they entered a year or two ago. Funds are sent off to a third party, who is either being scammed as well, or are involved with the scam. This is a typical fraudulent lottery/sweepstakes scam.
I received an automated phone call telling me my electricity was going to be turned off in 30 mins for non payment. The recording provided the number 1-800-429-0985 to discuss my account. I do not have an account with Reliant Energy. I believe this scammer is surfing corporate document filings and finding info such as addresses and phone numbers to scam people. One person at this number told me Reliant owns TXU Energy.
Claims to be Verizon. Indicates your account is suspended and tries to get you to "confirm" some information so they can reactivate your account. Started getting these calls right after a Verizon phone upgrade. Questioned them about the scam they're running and how they got my number and they quickly hung up.
They call saying your verizon wireless account has been suspended. don't buy it
I received a call from a Tom Wells who said he was with the Treasury Department as Publishers Clearing House Commission; was notifying me of my 2.5mil. He secured me a sponsor, Rita Cinninni of Bay City, Mi who sent me a check for $17,500. I deposited it and used my debit card to purchase gift cards; after a few days I was notified that her check was being returned as "account closed" which meant my account was in jeopardy, frozen mode due to my debit charges to purchase the gift cards being returned. He or Rita owe me $17,500. They have been reported to authorities as scammers.
