i just got scam letter in the mail from phone number is 800-378-8191
Total scam. wanted to sign me up for the "cardiac dept" to get checked to see if I had heart problems. Bunch of bull hockey. They also call about arthritis meds, back braces, joint braces etc....
Me too. He urged me to have DNA testing for heart disease. I declined the offer, thanked him for the recommendation and he abruptly hung up. That was on July 23. Since then I’ve ignored 18 calls from them. Some days two calls/day. I phoned Medicare after the first call. They said Medicare never makes calls soliciting services. Spoofing is when a caller uses a legitimate phone number to make these calls. Give them no personal info and DO NOT confirm any info they may have about you. It’s a trick. Hang up. Block them if they’re calling your cell phone. Being on the do not call list doesn’t help.
Caller Id came from my contact list and said "Medicare". Under my recent call list, it showed the calling number as 800-633-4227, which is the official number for Medicare. Middle Eastern accent and said he was from Genetic Health Research.
Received a call from 1 800 633 4227 today (June 10 2021) The caller (male) had a heavy foreign accent, possibly middle eastern or Pakistani. Said he was going to send me a new medicare card, wouldn't give the reason as to why. Wanted to get my medicare card number from the card I have currently , and complete name and address. Also wanted any other phone number that I had so that he would have an additional number to call if there is a problem. This call was actually the second call. The first call came from 217 4167900--the caller was the same male as the second call . Just call me aggravated in Decatur Illlinois
Received a call from 800-MEDICARE requesting name, birth date and medicare number.........said they were sending me a new Medicare card........I refused to give them my medicare number and hung up, they continued to call back......there was a lot of background noise and the caller had a heavy accent. If I didn't have a closed caption phone I would have never understood what she was asking.......I asked that if I called the number back would I get a "number no longer valid" message and she said to please not call the number back............suspect it's a scam and told her not to call back again.
Got a call. Woman voice that sounded recorded. As soon as I picked up it just said “good bye” and hung up.
