Similar experience. There was a fragment of a voicemail on my phone saying something about my Amazon Prime account. I called the number, and the gent who answered identified himself as an Amazon person, but with an unusual accent. I explained why I was calling, and he asked me for my email address. I had intended to respond by saying "Please forgive my skepticism, but I have no idea who you are." However, he hung up when I was only halfway through that sentence. I assess this as a scammer trying to get access to my Amazon account so he could get my credit card info.
