Called on behalf of my insurance for additional help and support. Preventive medicine in relation to my kidney care and diabetes. No cost as it's already part of my coverage.
We've been getting calls from this number, they claim to be Discover Student Loans, and needed to talk to me about an outstanding loan and payment that needed to be made. They pressed and pressed for my SSN, wouldnt go forward or tell my anything about the purpose of the call until I gave up my SSN. The more I asked about the nature of the call and trying to pry information out of them, the more they became irritated and wanted the SSN. This is obviously a scam, when the conversation starts by wanting you to disclose your SSN, so dont bite and just hang up!
27 Oct 2017 - have had no less than 8 calls today - the first one is annoying, the rest are harassment. On the first call I told them they were a scam and to quit bothering people (these are the ones who claim "windows" support. The number they are calling from is 800-767-8656. Tried dialing that number back and was told it could not be dialed from my calling area (Michigan) - that tells me it's a foreign number - someone needs to do something to stop these people
