Same here. Mumbled reference number. Almost fell for it. Call the number on the back of your credit card.
Got a recorded call saying it was TECO and that this was their last attempt before my power was shut off today and I needed to call 1-00-975-8935 but I looked and that is not the contact number for TECO in Florida and when I did check with TECO my account is not past due and not going to be turned off so they gave me a bogus 800 number and this appears to be a Phishing scam/
spoofing HSBC and claiming investigating activity on my acct. Thick Indian accent and mumbled a "reference number". Total scam. same as spammers calling you with similar phone number as yourself hoping you would think it be a relative or friend. Do NOT give out any personal Information. Call HSBC with the phone number on your statement or card when in doubt if you have a HSBC acct.
Recording saying a charge has been placed on visa for an itunes gift card. Call back if you didn't authorize this. Blocked number.
Recorded message saying they're the Federal crime & investigation bureau and they were calling regarding my social security number. Fake scam.
Was told to by a prerecorded message to "hold on the line for the next available representative."
2 calls within an hour claiming to be collecting for unspecified magazines. I refuse to be conned by this garbage.

Took a call from this number claim they were HSBC and said there was some activity on my debit card. It sounded suspicious and he mumbled an account number. I don't have a debit card with this bank.
