I got a call from the same number, popped up as State Police, so my son answered it, the man refused to tell him his name. My son repeatedly asked him, he said he was looking for me, an again the 4th time being asked what his name was, he says, well anyone in the household will do. He asked if we had a major credit card that he was calling for donations for the State Police fund raising program. My son hung up the phone. Its yet another scam! The wording he used was not how the state police do their fund raisers over the phone. I have but only 1 officer that calls and it's always the same number and the same name and he gave me a badge number the very 1st time he called so I could know he was a legit officer. This caller my son said had an Indian accent. I told him as soon as you hear that accent, hang up and block! But better yet, let it go to voicemail and if its important enough they'll leave a message.
Got a sketchy voicemail from this number talking about "updates to my federal student loan". I don't currently have a student loan and haven't for a while. Sounded like an older lady and gave a reference number, you know, to seem legit. "Elizabeth Stevens" didn't mention what entity she might be calling from, but had lots of "um", "so", "ah"s and seemed uneasy. Good luck with your scam!
