call said he was a debt collector; also got text asking if I want to opt out, that I can text STOP

Asked for me by name and I hung up because I’d already seen the online complaints the day before.
I don’t accept calls from unknown numbers. If they leave a number, fine. If not, I block it. Consider his blocked.
Got a call from 818-806-0491 a male stated that he was calling regarding a personal matter related a trip abroad some years ago and ask me to verify my zip code. I refused and told him to state his business. He told me I could check them out on BBB and I still refused. He said for to call him back if I changed my mind. I said I would not and that I was going to block his number.
I don't answer this number but they call all the time & use the name Heritage ? Some days they call 3 times!! Even on Sunday! I'd like to get rid of it!
My caller ID showed IT was a call from the Smithsonian and I believed them but when I asked for a confirmación number, she told me they didn't do that but they were going to send me an email I called the Smithsonian and they told me they didn't recognize that number and that they don't call members to renew their subscriptions. We called our band and they haven't charged anything yet. I was stupid enough to fall in the trap because the caller ID indicated it was the Smithsonian
