Got unwanted call from 833-243-9442?
Definitely spam at the least. I got a text on my cell. I called the number from a different (honeypot) line and got v-mail about a person calling himself Alex and says he is a local investor and buys houses. Asks to leave him your name, address, and number and he'll be sure to get back to you. (Note: this text is mine to do with as I wish above and beyond any stated terms and conditions including my exclusive right to post the same or similar content of any text I provide to any other site.)
Keep Calling without answering.
I believe this is a scam. BECAREFUL!!!!! I answered and a man was trying to verify my information, including my social security number. He provided his name but never indicated the purpose of the call or who he was representing. I told him this sounded fishy and I hung up. They call at least ones a day.
I had Comcast recently. I moved to an area that did not have service. I told them I was moving and wanted to transfer service. They saw on their own that they could not provide me service in that area. They were forced to discontinue service with me and did not charge me the penalty. I only owe them my last bill... in which it was prorated. If you call to cancel instead of transferring, they will try to charge you the penalty. But if you ask them to transfer service and they can't provide service in that area, then they cancel without penalty. It shows you wanted to keep them and not cancel.
It isn't it is AFNI, the collection agency for Comcast. But let me tell you about my little experience with Comcast!!! We had service with them for over 7 years. No problems, we downgraded our service with them. And then we moved out of their service area. In fact, we moved to another city. What they do not tell you dear sweet Comcast is that if you move out of the area where they are not the service provider then you will be slapped with a $150.00 early termination fee!!! I flipped my lid on that. Called up CS and here is exactly what they told me. "It is your responsibility to see to it that the area you move to, Comcast is the service provider!" I replied, "Well then you will never see any of that money!"
3 June 2019: Believed to be a SCAM, dah. Caller identified themselves as a debt collector for Comcast. They said I opened an account using my name, SSN, the number they called me at, and my home address on 1 October 2018 and that the account had been delinquent since 31 October 2018. First off, the home/service/billing address they proportedly had on file was not my address. The only thing they had right was my name and phone number. They kept asking me to verify my SSN, which I did not. I kept asking them to tell me what SSN they had on file and they said they couldn't give out that information due to privacy regulations. I told them I had my own privacy regulations and that was not to give out my SSN, dah! Secondly, I have never had service in my life with Comcast. The caller threatened to escalate the situation to the highest level including turning the matter over to my local police unless I paid the delinquent amount ($226.78) plus collection fees. I told them to go ahead!!! I wander what service Comcast offers for $28.35/month to come up with the $226.78 (8 months since the supposed account was opened). Seems like SCAM, SCAM, and more SCAM.
833-243-9442 calls my phone several times a day and hangs up and it will not allow me to block the number on my phone...
Says they are trying to collect a debt. I do not have any debt that needs collecting! My accounts are all current. I think this is a scam!
