This guy by the name of Darin called tonight, said he was from Verizon and I was to go to my computer and let him connect to solve a problem, the more he insisted the more leery I got so I hung up and reported it to the actual Verizon Company. I also looked up the number he gave me and checked it out and of course it was a scumbag.
Phone rings about 4 to 7 times consecutively and just beeps when you answer. Happens about once a week.
My husband had just purchased legitimate software and had it installed on his computer. When the "technician" called a few days later, he thought it was legitimate and gave him access to the computer. I did a reverse phone lookup and knew it was a SCAM but it was too late. My husband's screen has now gone dark. The HACKER calls our house 10 to 20 times a day. We have blocked most of the telephone numbers that he uses. He knows my husband's and my cell phone numbers and our house number. He uses spoof numbers to call in addition to this one. He probably wants money to unlock the screen. We would rather throw out the computer than give in to this HACKER. He has an Indian accent and speaks English well.
Caller ID was 3303431825 guy said name Brian, Tech secure, asked for his phone, gave me 8442937078, proceeded to tell me 5 people using my internet (not) tried to get pushy I must go to computer, told him I didn't have one, he got flustered and insisted i had one, so I hung up. He'll call back tomorrow, I'm keeping a log to send to DNC registry
Has been calling a few times. Why anyone would want to give information let alone give this person access to your computer must have a lot of faith in mankind.
