Stated that my dish TV receiver needed to be update and ask to many questions. Had my name and address but when he asked about my pass word then that was it for me.
Wife got a call from this number pretending to be from Direct TV and wanted her to pay $199.00 dollars to upgrade our software to receiver boxes. Would credit our account $15.00 a month for 2 years, so it would reimburse us...scam!
Call from Edward (ID 8046) at 845-584-1003. Claimed to be from Dish Network and needed to upgrade software of my receiver due to satellite relocation in upcoming week. He had specific knowledge of our bill. I hung up and checked directly with DISH. Chat support stated there was no concern. This number is a SCAM.
Caller, Jacob Elin stated he was with DIRECTV and wanted to check my satellite under remote "Info" , asked for my passcode and offered to upgrade my service to improve weather disruptions. Seemed ok until he asked for my last two digits of my social. Then later stated I would need to pay a one time fee of $189 for upgrades. I refused to pay. He said my system would fail when they would change satellite orbit. He did get my name and already had by address. Sure seemed to be a SCAM.
Called me on July 4th stating they were from DirecTV and that they need to upgrade the TV receivers because of recent satellite changes and were prying for my address and more information. Scam Scam.
State they are with Dish TV. JUNE 1, 2020 DAYTON OH.
stated that my dish TV receiver needed to update and charged me 189.50, then I found out dish does not charge for updates
