Left Voicemail. "Hi, this is Malik Smith from Capital Link Management. I have been recently retained to locate Denise Maryland Minamuh (spell check). If you can provide a location for Ms. Denise please call me at 855-406-0208." Found this after a Google Search: Capital Link Management or CLM is a debt collection agency, which receives a lot of consumer complaints to our law firm for debt harassment
Got a call from 855-406-0205...left message on my voice mail...guy from PCS couriers blah blah blah...please have 2 forms of id when they serve the court summons on me...blah blah blah....this is definitely a scam!
I've received the same call for over a year now with different numbers. Don't answer, it's a SCAM!!
I selected Debt Collector because that is what the call attempt was - to collect a debt. I received the same message as everyone else "Madison... court docs...criminal charges... etc." I called back and spoke with an agent. The agent explained that they were collecting a debt for XXXX (payday loan) and that I had a very short time to avoid criminal charges getting filed (for defrauding a bank and passing bad checks - note: this is not really the situation but regardless the debt is unpaid). I tell this individual that I am currently in bankruptcy proceedings. She tells me it doesn't matter. This isn't covered in the bankruptcy because they are criminal charges and I get transferred to a "paralegal." This individual "Jeffrey Goldstien" (super official sounding name) tells me bankruptcy is a civil case and again they are filing criminal charges. Tells me how much my employer (a bank) will appreciate the information, etc. He offers me a super sweet deal to settle this debt and never have to deal with it again. I'm ready to give this guy money because I'm not trying to lose my job or go to jail - I have kids I'm trying to feed. But, I tell him I need to speak with my attorney to make sure this doesn't impact anything with my bankruptcy. This guy ... wow... he tells me to forget it. I could offer him 1000.00 and he wouldn't take it. He's a good guy, trying to help me out. He offered me an incredible deal and I'm telling him I need to call my attorney first. Forget it. He tells me he would rather see me and jail. AND tells me to get a sitter for my kids. It's over. I panic at this moment. But I don't give in. I tell him I need to speak with my attorney first. So I get off the phone. I'm ugly bawling in the hall at work. I call my attorney. She tells me this is illegal and likely a scam. She calls the "collector" and fights with him. She calls me back and tells me she's confident it is a scam. I'm still freaking out... he hit me where it hurts - my kids. I'm still ready to call this guy and give him money. But I still, somehow, have the ability to think and I attempt to contact the original loan company. I get a message that my debt was sold and they provide a name and number. I call the number. I speak with Nicole from NJ Solutions/Holdings - who has bought the debt. She starts talking and her tone is a bit condescending. So I feel like I'm getting ready to go through this whole thing with her again. She tells me "you know that is highly illegal, right?" And again - ugly crying in the hall at work. She tells me that they have outsourced collection procedures but they are still managing the debt and she assured me that they are not considering pressing criminal charges. That I will not go to jail and that she will close down the account and note that it is in bankruptcy. I'm still very shaken up. I'm basically trained against scams because of my career and knowledge I have. Yet, I still - in the moment - when he said something about my kids - I thought about everything that could happen and I was ready to give him whatever he asked. So - I get now how people can fall for the scams and its scary. This may or not be a legitimate collection agency. But if they are - their collection practices are highly illegal. I don't know... I'm still pretty emotionally charged. But I would say this call isn't worth answering.
I received a voice message from Madison stating that I would receive court orders at my home or place of business in 24-48 hours and to have two types of ID ready. I don't trust this since it came up as a scam on my phone.

This is the message that was left: Hello my name is Madison Taylor calling from PCS Couriers we have a court ordered document in our that was issued under your SS# and she list the last four of my SS# been issued to our office. The documentation is scheduled to be delivered to you placed of employment or your home by private carrier within the next 24 to 48 hours please have two forms of identification available if it will be delivered to your work a supervisor or a security officer has to be present when you sign off at the witness if you have any questions or concerns please contact the filing firm at 855-406-0205 _
They called and never left a message. Then they called a relative of mine. This is unacceptable, because they falsely claimed that they were calling about an unsubstantiated debt they claimed was owed in 2000.
