This number has called me several times this week. When I call back, it automatically hangs up. I believe that this is one of the numbers linked to a criminal ring of offshore hackers, who recently breached my Chase Bank Accounts. I believe they were able to gain access through the email, PROTONMAIL, which is supposed to be high security.
Demanded $5,000 for computer services I had agreed to years ago o could cancel for $1,600 - would deduct from my bank account
Received a call from 855-999-7787 on a Saturday evening at 8 pm saying I ordered a computer protection service years ago and that it will be renewed for $5000 and will be be charged tom y credit card. Message delivered by Sarah. Called back and I was told no one was available. Asked to leave message.
Said $6000.00 would be taken out of my account for a 5 year service agreement that I had agreed to 3 uears ago, or I could cancel now and pay $3500.00. Tried to tell me I had 10 minutes to decide.
Attempting to get $3500 to "protect our identity" then arguing with us when we call them out on being a scam and meaning very rude.
Got a call from the # above saying a service I ordered last year will be renewed for $4,800.00 and will be taken out of my account.
Received call from above number requesting $2000.00 for computer security. Would not except credit card for payment. Wanted me to go to Walgreen's and purchase a gift card to make payment or pay by check over the phone.
They locked up my computer once and I paid $500 to get them to "fix it." Now I just run my anti-malware program. I never answer an unknown call.
