Claiming they are doing employment verification and income verification and reach me so no further action is taken.. scam.
These people said they were going to fix my husband's computer. (He has Parkinson's Disease, and gets easily confused.) He allowed them access to his laptop, and they told him it needed to be fixed and asked him to pay $500 from his Paypal account so that they could fix it for him. He did. He was on the phone with them when I got home from work, and I freaked out. I immediately got in touch with PayPal to dispute the charge. Of course, all our credit cards and financial institutions had to be notified in case of fraud. I am guessing they were able to capture his passwords. When I rebooted his computer, their software was still on it, and I was unable to remove it. I am taking the laptop to my computer guys to have the old harddrive removed and destroyed and have a new one installed. BEWARE of calls from this number!
Posted my experience, but you thanked me for my help tagging this as safe. I clicked UNSAFE site. Please change
Was having computer problems and they (John Smith @ 1-866-401-3859) remotely took over my computer and tried to fix the problem. Came back saying that certificate had expired and tried to sell me one for $749usd. In the meantime I contacted local computer repair shop and they informed me that their site has been suspended. They called back and got kind of irate when I told them that I was going to take the computer to my repair shop. Quickly hung up the phone
