Got a call about something I was supposed to have requested information on a "couple of weeks ago". I told him I was not interested. I have no idea of what it was about
Sawyer Edmonds & Associates contacted me trying to collect a debt that I had paid off since 2013. They said if I don't pay, they will put me to court, file a judgement on me, put a lien on my property, car, garnish my wages, and tax. I demanded them to send me everything in writing, and they refused. Unless, I agreed upon on a dollar amount/terms to repay my debt. This is insane. They need to be served. What goes around, comes around. Karma will be chasing them. Scamming on innocent people's hard earn money is the biggest shame!
Voicemail was was left stating that they were Edmond and Associates and were looking for a person that I had been associated with and gave the name of one of my family members. In the message they stated legal action was being filed in Almeda County then provided a case number. This person sounded genuine and I would have called them back except that the person they were looking for had never been to Almeda County.
I just filed an FTC complaint (no. 111909992). I received a message informing me that a civil action was to be filed in the county of my mailing address and to call 866-475-9306. I was provided a case number. I then received a text from an ex-boyfriend that he had been contacted by the same company and that they had told him a civil action was going to be filed against me. When I called, I told them I wasn't going to confirm any personal information over the phone and communicated that I work in civil litigation (I am a litigation paralegal). The woman I spoke to hung up on me. I called back and asked why I hadn't been notified by mail which would constitute some level of proper service. The man I spoke with wouldn't answer me. After hanging up because I had to deal with something at work, I called back and the same man answered and called me by my name. I asked for the mailing address of the organization and he refused to provide one. He connected me to "Lance Perry" who aggressively asked why I had a "gripe." I communicated that I was the one that was contacted, that contact had been made to an ex-boyfriend, and that I wanted a mailing address. He said I was harassing him and that "I wouldn't like what was going to happen next." He said I was having a "breakdown" and that he was going to have to "call the police." He hung up on me, I called back, and my number is now blocked. This company is abusing the phone communications and is threatening people with purported litigation.
