Got a call from someone claiming to be PCH and they directed me to call “Andrew Golden” at the number listed for this complaint. I went to Goldens voicemail which the recording on was completely generic, listing no name or company. When he called back, he blah blah Ed at me for a bit before asking how I felt about winning $1.5 million and a 2020 F150 truck. He eventually got to the catch...I needed to pay $750 in order to get these prizes. Interestingly, when I said I did not HAVE $750, and my bank account was overdrawn, he followed up with “How much CAN you pay today?” I asked him if he knew what overdrawn meant...then he told me to call him when I got home.
Got a call from a guy saying he was from PCH. I was then directed to call “Andrew Golden” at ?(876) 429-5032?. Left a voicemail on a phone number that didn’t even identify the persons name, much less that they were with “the prize patrol”. Golden just called me back and “all I need to do is provide $750 to get my 1.5 million AND new 2020 F150 pickup truck. Yeah, ok...I’ll get right on that!
I was told that I won Mega Millions. Hè asked for my email. None was provided to him yet he said I was previously notified of a prize. I asked him to send postal mail. No response. He used a fictional name. Block this number!!!
Bottom-line version, I've had a similar experience (but with "slicker" bad guys who were smart enough not to use vulgar language, and had an answer for all my questions), and I called PCH and they told me they do not call you before they show up at your door to present you with a PCH prize.
To the site Administrator: I hope you got my report, which took me about half an hour to generate, but I doubt it. Before hitting the "Send" button, I decided to hit the "Unsafe" categorization button, presuming that that should be done BEFORE sending, so as to associate the two. As soon as I did, the report I had typed in went away. It's not likely I'll be spending any significant time generating a report on this site in the future (despite my normal desire to help other people avoid problems I know about), unless you add appropriate safeguards and/or instructions to your software. An easy fix would be to NOT clear either of the two textboxes until the "Send" button is hit or the contributor exits the website (and in the latter case, of course, if they haven't sent the report yet but try to exit the website, you should ask them (in a pop-up) if they're sure they want to leave the page, since text has been typed into the textbox(es). If they answer "Leave," then the page exit continues. This is, or should be, SOP.
someone called from this number and said he was from "publisher's clearing house" and then used vulgar language
