Called twice, 1st time he didn’t speak in English and there was loud music in the background and he hung up. As I was looking up the number online he was calling back. This time my husband picked it up and the guy said he has a package from the Publishing Clearing House to be delivered on Monday, my husband said great, just drop it off and the guy said there was a fee he needed to collect, and my husband said yeah right and hangs up. Scammer!!!
Wants $458 loaded onto a green dot prepaid card to pay the taxes and fees on a PCH price and new car. He would call me back to back 6-8 times in one shot. Every. Single. Day. He needs to be stopped. I’m currently trying to locate his address to turn it over to the NYS police.
This was one of the slickest scams I have heard in a long time. Very polished. They said my wife was a Publishers Clearing House 2nd place winner of $3.5 million plus a new Mercedes. Since my Alzheimer's disease wife has entered the PCH sweepstakes many times, for a brief moment I considered that the caller MIGHT be legitimate. However, the Jamaican scam has been around for decades with many variations. When I mentioned I had been recording the lengthy phone call and would be sending it to our state's Attorney General, the scam artist quickly aborted and hung up. Had I allowed him to continue talking, he would have asked for an up-front fee for "Taxes" and or "Processing," or he would have asked for our bank account number to facilitate a wire transfer of the alleged $3.5 million. The Kansas Attorney General has stated on their website that under no circumstances will Publishers Clearing House call you by telephone to announce that you have won, if the amount is over $10,000. I was somewhat disturbed that the Jamaican caller had my wife's full name, street address, and phone number. Though I cannot prove it, most likely PCH is selling personal identifiable information from their database of sweepstakes entries. Beware - these guys are very slick.
said he was from publisher clearing house and I had won but wanted my email address . I told him this was a scam and hung up
