I received the same email from them and do not even have Norton. Apparently trying to get you to call them and illegally obtain your info. It definately is fraud.
I rec'd an email regarding a subscription renewal for Norton for over $400 . I have never had Norton in the first place. I am NOT going to call this number. I am going to watch my credit cards for bogus charges and hope for the best.
This just happened to me also. Geez it's crazy all the scammers out there!
I'm located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Received an email stating I owed Norton protection $400 for an annual subscription -- a subscription I DID NOT order. A line in the email stated: "If you wish to cancel this subscription then please feel free to contact our billing department as soon as possible. You can reach us on +1(888,362,4285), Regards, Billing Department". I immediately called the number, gave the invoice # on the email, then said I wanted to cancel the subscription I never ordered in the first place, and asked what country I had called. Was told "the USA". Then asked what state. Was told "New York". The person with whom I was speaking said his name was Kevin. It was so obvious, and as I stated to him, I wasn't speaking to anyone in the US; also obvious he was no more a "Kevin" than I am. I was talked over so that I couldn't get a word in edgewise, then he hung up on me. I immediately called back, went through same crap only this time with yet another person claiming to have some American name, then once again, hung up on when I began asking questions. This occurred a total of 4 times. THIS HAS TO BE A SCAM. I never, NEVER ordered Norton protection for my computer and tried vehemently to get these "non-Americans" to tell me what name was on the account under the invoice #, and what credit card they had that they were going to charge for this bogus account. No information given; hung up each time. Now I'm contacting the Fraud Depts. of both my credit cards to place an alert on same so as not to end up being scammed out of $400.
These people continually phone my elderly mother and insist she owes them money for a supposed contract she entered. Tell her she owes $5,000 per year, then reduce it to $2,000 or any other random number. They have not produced any such contract and offer to cancel this for $1000 or more! They are heartless and ruthless. This has caused health issues for her as its is stressful. I have told them to stop calling her, she has no credit card or check book with which to pay them so they will not get any money from her. Michael is the person I spoke with - repeatedly calls and harasses her. AWFUL. No idea if they do legit business but would never engage them for anything.
Called 4x in 3 minuts. Couldn't understand anything except 'computer'. Have been called many times over about 5 yrs by a foreign speaking male who 'offers' to repair my computer. Initially I fell for this when the computer was 'locked up' while I was on line. Did get my $400 back when the scam was resolved. Can't get rid of the guy.
