Got unwanted call from 916-237-0204?
5/1/20- Call came in as "No Caller ID" I sometimes get those from work so I answered. It was someone claiming to be from publisher's clearing house, asking do I remember entering. I stated some time ago, yes, probably. He said I need to give you a number for you to call, 916-237-0204 and a seven digit pin to see what you've won, as you are a winner. I called from a different phone number but that number was busy, multiple times. He said, just give it a minute or so and try again, so I did several times. In the meantime I googled this phone number and saw all the scam calls already noted, so I immediately hung up. The person kept calling and then it switched form "No Caller ID" to "Unknown" so I turned my phone off. Beware!!
publisher clearing house scam he said his name is oliver Johnson beware
Got a call this evening claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. Strange, since we didn’t enter. Said we had won 8 million dollars and $5000 per week for the rest of our lives. Gave us a bunch of names and confirmation numbers and told us to call this number with a pin code. Thick accents, obviously not PCH, because they don’t work that way. Beware, scam!
I received several calls (3-9 and 3-10-2020) supposedly from Publishers Clearing House that I had won $5 million dollars, a new car, free gas card for a year and $5,000 gift card from Walmart. All they wanted was some money to be sent some where to help defray costs. One person used the name of James Whitman. His first language is not English since he had a heavy accent. The follow-up call was from a Michael McCarty. While I was talking to Mr. Whitman I could hear some one prompting him about to say, emphasize this is Publishers Clearing House. I too had to call 1-916-237-0204 with a pin number as if to verify who I was. Since I live in area code 916 of the Sacramento CA region, a touch point was right near where I live. Fraud and scam right in my back yard. This no doubt is scam of long lasting. Using the same phone number over and over again. This should be brought to the attention of the phone company if not solved the phone company becomes a part of the overall problem. The Federal Trade Commission should also be made aware of such scams. If they worked this hard at scamming someone it must pay off some of the time.
Claimed to represent Publishers Clearing house and said I won 5 million and car
Skeptical that this was the "real deal", I checked out the number. Thought it peculiar that I had to go through that kind of procedure. Hope someone else checks out the number.
my elderly mom received a call that she won a publisher clearing house gift from this number, how can you win if you didn't play, lol !!!
