Two calls from this number on 1/18/2021 to my home phone. Did not answer as the caller ID came up as Cambridge and Google says they are a shady front for scam known as American Homeless Veterans.
This call is most likely an attempt by a debt collector to verify that a) your phone number is working (something that cannot be ascertained if you just let it ring without answering it) and b) you are the party from whom they are trying to collect (they need to record you stating your name (ideally) or at least responding in the affirmative, should they speak your name to you). If you speak with them and they verify b above, that may be sufficient to restart the clock on the time permitted by statute to continue efforts to collect a debt. As you can see, just verifying a and b above is valuable because this information can and will be sold to other debt collectors and commercial organizations (both legitimate and criminal) in order to draw blood from you. Be very wary of calls you receive from numbers you do not recognize and do not update postings on social media that identify you, your location, your employer, and the names and contact details of your neighbors and family. The internet monetizes everything about you and facilitates the nefarious activities of scammers and bottom feeders of every description.
This person said he was from United Healthcare. First, he wanted my birth date to verify me. I asked hum how to verify him. He said to call my insurance.
Says he is from United Healthcare but doesn't ask for a specific person and the return phone number cut off...I didn't answer. If it was for real, someone would actually be on the other end to talk.
